Sacramento Clean Energy Workforce Training Programs

Interested in getting into the Clean-Green Industry? Sacramento Works has three training programs available for those interested in the field of Green Building or Alternative Vehicles and Fuel.

Green Building Retraining

This program is geared to assist the unemployed/under-employed job seeker with previous construction experience and an interest in green construction retraining.

Training Services – The upgrade skills training will include green building principles, building science fundamentals and California State Energy code licensure laws for both residential and commercial construction. Topics will include solar technology, high efficiency lighting, solar thermal, HVAC efficiency and HERS rating. All training will include both classroom and hands-on venues.

Green Building Retraining Program

Green Building Pre-Apprenticeship

This program will prepare unemployed/underemployed adults and new workforce entrants with no prior construction experience for:

  • Employment in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure apprenticeships in the Green Building industry and employment
  • Employment as Weatherization Technicians and Home Energy Auditors in the residential Green Building industry.

Training Services – Pre-Apprenticeship programs will provide specialized training in green pre-apprenticeship by journey level workers with advanced green certifications from carpenters, electricians, plumbers and sheet metal programs. All participants will take short-term training classes focusing on electrical, heating and air, solar, and green constructions receiving certifications that will lead to a Certified Green Building Professional training certificate.

Green Building Pre-Apprenticeship

Alternative Vehicles and Fuel

This program will provide entry-level alternative vehicle and fuel system training to unemployed/underemployed adults as well as provide upgrade skills training to currently employed technicians identified by their companies/organizations.

Training Services – Upgrade skills training will be provided in electric vehicles, hybrids, alternative fuels, clean/green diesel, retrofitting, computer diagnostics and environmental impact. Entry-level training will include completion of courses to earn a certificate in either Clean/Diesel or Alternative Vehicles and Fuels.
